Fees

Deception Bay Clinic

Our fees are dependent on the type of referral.

1/ Individual Therapy – Pension or Health Care Card holders:  Clients with a Pension or Health Care Card are bulk billed through Medicare and do not pay any fee each session.  To be bulk billed you must be referred by a General Practitioner.  The GP will conduct a short assessment to determine what your primary concerns are and will then complete a Mental Health Care Plan so you can make your first appointment.  The care plan will be given to you to bring to your first session or it will be faxed to us.  Clients with a Care Plan may access 10 bulk billed sessions per calendar year.

2/ Individual Therapy:  The standard fee for individual therapy consultations is $195 for a Clinical Psychologist.  The standard fee for individual therapy consultations is $155 for a General Psychologist.  Fee paying clients are typically referred by their GP on a Mental Health Care Plan.  These clients pay either $195 or $155 depending on the type of psychologist they are attending (which can be paid in cash or through EFTPOS) and are then refunded $126.50 for a Clinical Psychology appointment or $86.15 for a General Psychology appointment from Medicare at the clinic’s reception, so each session costs the client approximately $65 ‘out of pocket’.  Clients with a Mental Health Care Plan may access 10 Medicare subsidised sessions per calendar year.

3/ Couple Therapy and Relationship Counselling:  Relationship Counselling costs $175 per session.  Couples may also attend therapy outside standard business hours (i.e., Thursday evenings until 8pm) and these sessions are charged $190 per session.  Under current arrangements GP’s cannot refer couples for Medicare funded Relationship Counselling sessions.

4/ National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS):  Our psychologists are NDIS providers for self-managed and plan managed clients.  The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides Australians aged under 65, who have permanent and significant disability with funding for supports and services.  More information can be found https://www.ndis.gov.au/.

The standard fee for NDIS individual therapy consultations is $214.41 for a Clinical or a General Psychologist. Self-Managed clients pay this fee at the time of their consultation and we provide a receipt to claim on your NDIS funding. NDIS Plan Managed clients will need to provide us with the plan manager’s details and we will bill the plan manager direct. The amount of sessions available will depend on the individual’s funding for psychological treatment.

As per recommendations provided by the NDIS, two business days’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment without accruing a missed appointment fee.  The missed appointment fee is $192.90 and is covered by your NDIS funding.  If you are self-managed the outstanding amount must be paid before another session can be booked.  Please note: If a missed appointment fee is incurred, all future appointments will also be cancelled until the outstanding fee has been attended to.

5/ Open Arms:  Ex and Serving members of the Australian Defence Force may be referred through Open Arms for individual therapy or couples counselling.  Open Arms is billed directly for therapy and there are no out of pocket expenses for clients referred by this service.  Ex and Serving members of the Australian Defence Force should contact Open Arms directly to enquire about a referral.  Clients referred by Open Arms initially attend for three sessions, a short report is then prepared by the psychologist together with a request for funding for further sessions if required.  Typically, Open Arms clients are eligible for up to 15 sessions (more under extenuating circumstances).

6/ Private Health Insurance: You may also be able to claim a rebate for therapy if you have private health insurance.  Each insurer has different rebates available, however these rebates are dependent on the level of cover requested when the insurance was commenced.  Contact your health insurer directly for details on your cover.

Castle Hill Medical Centre

Fees for sessions conducted at Castle Hill Medical Centre are similar to those for services provided at our Deception Bay Clinic.

The standard fee for individual therapy consultations is $195 for a Clinical Psychologist.  The standard fee for individual therapy consultations is $155 for a General Psychologist.  Clients are typically referred by their GP on a Mental Health Care Plan. To receive a rebate you must be referred by a General Practitioner.  The GP will conduct a short assessment to determine what your primary concerns are and will then complete a Mental Health Care Plan so you can make your first appointment.  The care plan will be given to you to bring to your first session or it will be faxed to us.  Clients with a Care Plan may access 10 Medicare subsidised sessions per calendar year.

Pension or Health Care Card holders:  We are unable to provide Bulk Billing services at this surgery due to the time required for OGI Potential Psychologists to provide this outreach service, which is conducted off site from our usual place of business.  However Health Care Card and Pension Card holders are charged a reduced fee of either $165 for a Clinical Psychologist or $125 for a General Psychologist, therefore clients are approximately $39 per session out of pocket.

Do you have a cancellation or missed appointment fee?

Yes.  Two business days’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment without accruing a missed appointment fee.  The missed appointment fee is currently $86.15 and must be paid before another session can be booked.  Please note: If a missed appointment fee is incurred, all future appointments will also be cancelled until the outstanding fee has been attended to.  Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover missed appointment fees and hence this must be paid privately by the client.  The missed appointment fee may be waived if a medical certificate is provided.  However, the certificate must be acquired and dated at the time of the medical concern and must clearly indicate that the medical practitioner has diagnosed a condition.

OGI Potential provides services to the Newport, Scarborough, Redcliffe, Margate, Kippa-Ring, Rothwell, North Lakes, Mango Hill, North Brisbane, Burpengary, Morayfield and Caboolture areas.
